Ferrous
Ferrous metals usually contain iron and are magnetic, with the exception of some stainless steels. They can be welded using a TIG or MIG depending on visual appearance, cost or strength. Like most metals, these do corrode and will require some surface treatment or coating to protect them from the elements. Coatings such as black oxide can also be applied to help protect even stainless steel in very harsh environments.
• Which surface treatments can be applied to steel?
• Can stainless steel corrode?
• Are all these metals magnetic?
Not sure which material is right for you? Just ask.
